What Treatments Are Included in a Smile Makeover in St Andrews?

What Treatments Are Included in a Smile Makeover in St Andrews?

Smile design in St Andrews at St Andrews Dental Care is built around your specific goals rather than a standard set of treatments applied to every patient. The procedures included in your makeover depend on your individual concerns, your dental health and what will most effectively deliver the result you are looking for. This guide covers the treatments most commonly included so you arrive at your consultation prepared.

The Design Stage: Planning Your Result Before Treatment

Every smile makeover at St Andrews Dental Care begins with a thorough planning stage before any clinical work starts. We use digital smile design tools to create a visualisation of your potential result at the consultation stage. You can see the proposed plan, give feedback and refine it until it genuinely reflects what you want to achieve. Find out more at standrewsdentalcare.co.uk.

Investing time in the design stage produces more predictable outcomes. When both patient and dentist share a clear, agreed vision before treatment begins, the result is far more reliably what the patient had hoped for.

Professional Teeth Whitening

Professional teeth whitening is the most accessible starting point in smile design. Prescription-strength gel in custom-fitted trays produces results significantly more even and dramatic than anything available over the counter.

In a smile makeover, whitening is typically done first. It establishes the new colour baseline of the natural teeth so that any veneers, bonding or other restorations placed afterwards are shade-matched to the brighter tone. This ensures a consistent and natural-looking colour throughout the whole smile.

Composite Bonding

Composite bonding uses tooth-coloured resin applied, shaped and hardened directly on the tooth. It can repair chips and cracks, close gaps between teeth, improve the shape and proportion of individual teeth and refine the overall balance of the smile in a single appointment.

Bonding requires little or no removal of natural tooth structure, making it a highly conservative option. For patients wanting a meaningful improvement without the commitment of porcelain veneers, or who want to trial the look first, composite bonding is the ideal starting point. Results last five to seven years.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are the most comprehensive option in smile design. Ultra-thin ceramic shells fabricated in a dental laboratory are bonded permanently to the front of the treated teeth, changing their colour, shape, size and surface texture all at once.

The porcelain reflects light in a way that closely mimics natural enamel, giving well-made veneers a depth and translucency that makes them virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. With proper care, porcelain veneers last 15 years or more.

Gum Contouring

The gumline frames the smile and its symmetry and proportion are as important as the teeth. An uneven gumline or one that sits too low and partially obscures the tooth surface creates an imbalance that tooth treatment alone cannot correct.

Laser gum contouring reshapes excess or uneven gum tissue precisely and with minimal discomfort. The result is a more symmetrical and balanced gumline that allows the teeth to be the focus of the smile and the overall result to look genuinely harmonious.

Orthodontic Treatment as a First Step

For patients with mild crowding or spacing, a short course of clear aligner treatment before cosmetic finishing is often the most conservative and effective approach. Correcting alignment first means veneers or bonding sit on teeth that are already in the correct position, producing a more natural result and reducing the amount of cosmetic material needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need all of these treatments for my smile makeover in St Andrews?

No. Your plan will include only the treatments relevant to your specific concerns. Some patients need only whitening. Others need a more comprehensive combination. The consultation is where we determine exactly what is right for your smile based on your actual teeth and goals.

How long does smile design take in St Andrews from consultation to completion?

A whitening and composite bonding plan typically takes two to three appointments over a few weeks. A plan including porcelain veneers takes four to six appointments over four to eight weeks. Your dentist will give you a specific timeline at your consultation.

Is composite bonding or porcelain veneers better for smile design in St Andrews?

Neither is universally better. Composite bonding is more conservative, more affordable and completed faster. Porcelain veneers are more durable, more stain-resistant and more comprehensively transformative. The right choice depends on what you want to change, how long you want the result to last and how conservative you want to be with your natural tooth structure. Your dentist will give you an honest recommendation at your consultation.

Teeth Whitening in St Andrews: What Patients Should Know Before Starting Treatment

Teeth Whitening in St Andrews: What Patients Should Know Before Starting Treatment

Looking Good and Feeling It Too

There is a particular kind of confidence that comes from being genuinely happy with your smile. It is not vanity. It is the ease that comes from knowing that when you laugh, when you speak, when you introduce yourself to someone new, the smile you are presenting reflects how you actually feel rather than prompting a small, internal hesitation.

For many patients in St Andrews, that ease has quietly diminished over the years as teeth have gradually lost some of their natural brightness. The change is slow enough that most people do not notice it happening, but at some point the gap between how they remember their smile looking and how it looks now becomes noticeable, and the question of what to do about it moves from the back of the mind to the front.

Professional teeth whitening is one of the most direct answers to that question. It is non-invasive, requires no structural changes to the teeth, produces results that look genuinely natural, and is considerably more comfortable and straightforward than many patients expect before they try it. At St Andrews Dental Care, whitening treatments are delivered safely under clinical supervision, with a personalised approach that reflects each patient’s individual starting point and goals.

If you are considering professional teeth whitening in St Andrews and want a clear and honest guide to what is involved, this is a good place to start.

Patients who would like to explore the treatments available at St Andrews Dental Care can visit the St Andrews Dental Care website.

Why Teeth Lose Their Natural Whiteness

Tooth discolouration is almost universal. It affects patients of every age, background, and oral hygiene habit to varying degrees, which is why understanding its causes is more useful than feeling self-conscious about it.

The outer surface of each tooth is covered by enamel, the hardest biological material the human body produces. Despite its hardness, enamel has a microscopic surface texture that allows pigmented compounds from food, drink, and other sources to gradually work their way in and accumulate over time. This accumulation happens slowly and invisibly, building up over months and years until the overall colour of the tooth has shifted noticeably away from its natural shade.

The ageing process compounds this effect independently of lifestyle choices. As the enamel naturally thins over the years, the dentine layer beneath, which is naturally a darker yellow-brown colour, becomes increasingly visible through it. This contributes to the yellowing or greying that many patients notice from their thirties and forties onwards, and it occurs regardless of how carefully the teeth are looked after.

The most common everyday causes of tooth discolouration include:

  • Tea and coffee, which are among the most significant contributors to enamel staining due to their tannin content and the frequency with which most people consume them
  • Red wine, whose deeply pigmented compounds bind persistently to the enamel surface over time
  • Dark-coloured foods including berries, tomato-based sauces, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce
  • Smoking and tobacco use, which produce both surface staining and deeper discolouration that penetrates the enamel
  • The natural ageing process, which affects tooth colour independently of diet or hygiene habits
  • Certain medications that can influence tooth colour from within the structure of the tooth itself

Understanding these causes helps patients appreciate both why professional whitening is so effective and what habits will best protect results after treatment.

What the Whitening Process Involves at St Andrews Dental Care

Professional teeth whitening at St Andrews Dental Care uses clinically approved whitening gels whose active agents work by penetrating the enamel surface and targeting the pigmented compounds responsible for discolouration. The process is gradual and carefully controlled, producing a natural-looking improvement in tooth brightness that develops consistently over the course of the treatment period.

The meaningful distinction between professional whitening and products available in pharmacies or supermarkets comes down to two things. The first is the concentration of the active whitening agents, which is considerably higher in professional products and produces results that are correspondingly more noticeable and more consistent. The second is clinical supervision, which ensures the treatment is appropriate for your teeth specifically, applied correctly, and adjusted where needed to manage any risk of sensitivity or gum irritation.

The whitening process at St Andrews Dental Care typically involves:

  • An initial consultation to examine the health of your teeth and gums, assess the type and extent of discolouration present, and confirm that professional whitening is the right approach for your situation
  • Custom whitening trays made from precise impressions or digital scans of your teeth to ensure an accurate and comfortable fit
  • Professional whitening gel supplied for home use with the trays
  • A gradual brightening process carried out over several days to a few weeks, depending on your starting shade and the degree of improvement you would like to achieve

The custom-fitted trays deserve particular mention because they are central to the quality of the result. When the trays fit your teeth precisely, the whitening gel distributes evenly across every tooth surface and maintains consistent contact throughout each wear period. This is what produces the uniform improvement across the full smile that distinguishes professional whitening results from the uneven outcomes that generic, poorly fitting trays so often deliver.

Who Is Professional Whitening Most Suitable For?

Professional teeth whitening in St Andrews is suitable for most adults who are unhappy with the colour of their smile and whose oral health is in good overall condition. It works most reliably for discolouration that has developed gradually over time as a result of diet, lifestyle factors, and the natural ageing process.

Patients who tend to be most satisfied with their whitening results include those who:

  • Have noticed their teeth becoming progressively duller, yellower, or more stained over the years
  • Have visible staining from regular consumption of tea, coffee, or red wine
  • Want to address discolouration caused by smoking or previous tobacco use
  • Are preparing for a significant occasion such as a wedding, milestone birthday, graduation, or important professional event
  • Simply want their smile to feel as fresh, bright, and confident as the rest of their appearance

A consultation at St Andrews Dental Care will allow your dentist to assess your individual situation and advise honestly on what whitening can realistically achieve in your specific case. It is also worth knowing that professional whitening works on natural tooth enamel and does not alter the colour of dental restorations such as crowns, veneers, or composite fillings. If you have visible restorations in your smile, your dentist will discuss this during the consultation and give you a complete picture before treatment begins.

Keeping Your Smile Bright After Treatment

Professional whitening results are genuinely long-lasting, but they benefit from a few thoughtful habits in the period following treatment. The same factors that contributed to discolouration before whitening will continue to act on the teeth afterwards, which is why incorporating some straightforward adjustments into daily routines makes a meaningful difference to how long results last.

The most effective steps for protecting your whitening results after treatment at St Andrews Dental Care include:

  • Brushing twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste to support enamel health and surface cleanliness
  • Attending regular dental check-ups at St Andrews Dental Care to monitor the condition of your teeth over time
  • Reducing the frequency of staining drinks such as tea, coffee, and red wine, and using a straw where possible to limit their direct contact with the tooth surfaces
  • Avoiding tobacco products, which are among the most significant contributors to re-staining after whitening treatment
  • Arranging periodic top-up whitening treatments at St Andrews Dental Care when results naturally begin to fade over time

Most patients in St Andrews find their whitening results remain clearly noticeable for several months after treatment, and those who adopt consistent protective habits often maintain a noticeably brighter smile for considerably longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does professional whitening feel during treatment?

Most patients find professional whitening comfortable and unremarkable throughout. The custom-made trays are smooth and precisely fitted, which makes them easy to wear for the recommended periods each day. Some patients notice mild and temporary sensitivity during the initial stages of treatment, which typically settles quickly and does not persist beyond the treatment period. If you have existing sensitivity, your dentist at St Andrews Dental Care will adapt the treatment approach to keep you comfortable from start to finish.

How quickly will I see results?

Most patients begin to notice a visible improvement within the first few days of wearing the whitening trays. The full result develops gradually over the course of the treatment period, which typically spans one to three weeks depending on the starting shade and the degree of brightening being sought. The gradual nature of the process is part of what gives the final result such a natural appearance, avoiding the sudden or stark change that patients sometimes worry about before starting treatment.

How long will my results last?

Most patients in St Andrews maintain noticeably brighter teeth for several months following treatment. Results last longer in patients who limit their consumption of staining foods and drinks, avoid tobacco, and attend regular dental check-ups at St Andrews Dental Care. Periodic top-up treatments can be arranged when needed to refresh brightness and extend results over time.

Does whitening work differently on different people?

Yes, to some degree. The starting shade of the teeth, the type of discolouration present, and individual factors such as enamel thickness and tooth sensitivity all influence how whitening responds for each patient. This is one of the reasons a consultation at St Andrews Dental Care is such an important first step, as it allows your dentist to give you a realistic and personalised indication of what results to expect before treatment begins rather than after it.

Is professional whitening better than whitening toothpaste?

Whitening toothpastes work primarily through mild abrasion to remove surface staining and typically produce modest results that are limited to the very surface of the enamel. They do not penetrate the enamel to address the deeper pigmentation that is responsible for most noticeable discolouration. Professional whitening at St Andrews Dental Care uses active whitening agents at clinically appropriate concentrations in custom-fitted trays, producing results that are considerably more noticeable, more consistent, and longer lasting than whitening toothpaste alone can achieve.

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers in Fife | St Andrews Dental Care

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers: Which Smile Solution Is Right for You at St Andrews Dental Care?

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers – If you’re thinking about enhancing your smile, you’re not alone. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, one of the most common questions we hear is:

“Should I choose porcelain or composite veneers?”

Both options can transform your smile, but the right choice depends on your goals, lifestyle, and expectations. This guide will help you understand the differences so you can make an informed, confident decision.

What Are Veneers? A Simple Explanation

Veneers are thin, custom-made coverings placed over the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. They’re a popular cosmetic solution for addressing concerns such as:

  • Discolouration or staining

  • Chipped or worn teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Uneven or misshapen teeth

  • Mild alignment issues

At St Andrews Dental Care, every veneer is carefully designed to complement your natural features and create a balanced, authentic smile.

Porcelain Veneers: A Premium Smile Transformation

Porcelain veneers are widely regarded as the gold standard in cosmetic dentistry due to their durability and natural appearance.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  • Highly natural, enamel-like finish

  • Excellent resistance to staining

  • Long-lasting results (often 10–15+ years)

  • Custom-crafted for a precise, seamless fit

Porcelain reflects light in a way that closely mimics natural tooth enamel, making it ideal for patients seeking a refined, long-term solution.

Best For:

  • Patients wanting a long-lasting cosmetic upgrade

  • Those seeking the most natural-looking results

  • Individuals looking for durability and minimal maintenance

Composite Veneers: A Flexible and Cost-Effective Option

Composite veneers are created using tooth-coloured resin and can often be completed in a single visit.

Benefits of Composite Veneers

  • More affordable than porcelain veneers

  • Minimal tooth preparation required

  • Faster treatment time

  • Easily repairable if chipped

While composite veneers don’t last as long as porcelain, they offer an excellent option for patients seeking noticeable improvement with less commitment.

Best For:

  • Minor cosmetic enhancements

  • Budget-conscious patients

  • Those wanting a less permanent solution

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long do veneers last?

The lifespan of veneers depends on the type chosen and how well they’re cared for.

  • Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years or more with good oral hygiene.

  • Composite veneers usually last 5–7 years before needing repair or replacement.
Regular dental check-ups and good daily care can significantly extend their lifespan.

2. Do veneers damage your natural teeth?

When placed correctly by an experienced dentist, veneers do not damage your teeth. Only a small amount of enamel is removed to ensure a secure and natural-looking fit. Composite veneers may require little to no enamel removal at all.

3. Are veneers painful?

The veneer process is generally very comfortable. Most patients experience little to no discomfort, and any sensitivity is usually mild and temporary. Local anaesthetic can be used if needed to ensure you remain comfortable throughout treatment.

4. Can veneers look natural?

Absolutely. Modern veneers are designed to closely mimic the colour, translucency, and texture of natural teeth. When expertly planned and placed, veneers can be virtually indistinguishable from natural enamel.

5. How do I care for my veneers?

Caring for veneers is similar to caring for natural teeth:

  • Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste

  • Floss daily

  • Attend regular dental check-ups

  • Avoid biting hard objects (such as ice or pens)

With good care, veneers can remain beautiful for many years.

Invisalign Timeline Fife – Your Complete Guide

From Consultation to Final Smile: Your Complete Invisalign Timeline

If you’ve been dreaming of a straighter smile without the brackets and wires of traditional braces, Invisalign may feel like a breath of fresh air. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we guide patients through this modern teeth-straightening process every day, making sure each step feels simple, supportive, and genuinely exciting.

In this complete Invisalign timeline, we walk you through exactly what to expect, from your first consultation to the moment you reveal your final, confident smile. Ready? Let’s begin.

What Makes Invisalign a Popular Choice?

Invisalign has transformed the world of orthodontics. Instead of metal hardware, it uses nearly invisible, custom-made plastic aligners that gently guide your teeth into their ideal position.

Unlike braces, you can remove your aligners to eat and clean your teeth, giving you freedom and flexibility. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we see patients choosing Invisalign for its comfort, convenience, and discreet appearance. It’s orthodontics without the lifestyle disruption.

Step-by-Step: Your Invisalign Timeline Explained

Step 1 – Your Initial Consultation

This is where your Invisalign journey truly begins. During your first appointment at St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we evaluate your teeth, ask about your smile goals, and determine whether Invisalign is the best treatment for you.

 What Happens During the Consultation?

  • We examine your bite and overall oral health

  • We discuss potential outcomes and expectations

  • You’ll have time to ask all the questions you want

  • We walk you through the process, costs, and timeline

Think of this visit as the blueprint stage, you’re designing the smile you’ve always wanted.

Step 2 – Digital Scans and Smile Simulation

No messy impressions here. Using advanced digital scanning technology, we create a precise 3D image of your teeth.

Why Digital Scans Matter

  • They provide highly accurate imaging

  • They help design your custom aligner trays

  • They allow us to show a before-and-after simulation

  • They ensure a comfortable, tailored treatment plan

At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, most patients love seeing what their future smile will look like. It’s motivation from day one!

Step 3 – Custom Aligner Production

Once your digital scan is complete, Invisalign builds your series of aligners. Each tray applies gentle pressure to move your teeth slightly—step by step—until everything is beautifully aligned.

This stage typically takes a couple of weeks. During this time, your only job is to get excited.

Step 4 – Fitting Your First Set of Aligners

When your aligners arrive, you’ll return to the practice to try on your first set. We make sure they fit correctly and feel comfortable.

What to Expect During the Fitting

  • We teach you how to insert and remove aligners

  • We explain your wear schedule (usually 20–22 hours a day)

  • We discuss cleaning and care tips

  • You’ll receive multiple sets to progress through at home

You may feel slight pressure during the first few days, this is normal and means it’s working.

Step 5 – Wearing Your Aligners Full-Time

This is the longest part of your Invisalign timeline. You’ll switch to new aligners roughly every 1–2 weeks, depending on your treatment plan.

Tips for Success

  • Wear them for at least 20 hours daily

  • Remove them only for eating, drinking (anything but water), and brushing

  • Clean them gently, no hot water

  • Keep them in a protective case when not in use

We monitor your progress at St Andrews Dental Care in Fife through regular check-ins, usually every 6–8 weeks.

Step 6 – Refinements (If Needed)

Sometimes teeth need a little extra time to reach their perfect position. Refinements are additional aligners used to fine-tune your smile.

Think of this as polishing the final details, it’s all part of achieving perfection.

Step 7 – Completing Treatment and Showing Off Your Smile

Once your teeth have reached their ideal alignment, it’s time to celebrate! We’ll remove any attachments and take final photos so you can see your transformation.

But your journey doesn’t end here.

Step 8 – Retainers to Maintain Your Results

To keep your smile beautifully aligned, retainers are essential. Your teeth naturally try to shift back, and retainers ensure long-term stability.

Retainer Essentials

  • Wear them nightly at first

  • Gradually decrease as advised

  • Clean regularly

  • Replace when worn

At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we provide custom retainers designed for comfort and durability.

How Long Does the Invisalign Process Take?

Most Invisalign treatments last 6 to 18 months, depending on your case. More complex alignment issues may take longer, while simple cosmetic tweaks can be completed faster.

Every patient is unique, which is why we provide a personalized estimate during your consultation.

Having had a lifelong fear of the dentist and previous awful experiences in the past at other surgeries I was recommended to St Andrews dental care by a friend who had her treatment here. I can’t find fault with the surgery from the initial consultation to my first surgery yesterday - I was found to need my two front teeth removed( one was a metal bridge which was fitted over a year ago which was aesthetically awful and the other one had cracked at the root which hadn’t been detected at the original accident) the service I received was outstanding- relaying my fears, a painless procedure and the pre and post procedure care so far has been excellent. Stuart and his team constantly ensured I was comfortable and happy for the full 2 hours my of my initial treatment period making me mushy less anxious about upcoming appointments.

I signed up with St Andrews Dental Care over a year ago. I was a very anxious, nervous patient who previously would lose sleep the night before a dental appointment. From my very first conversation with Christina, the receptionist, I was put at ease. Christina and Rebecca are warm and welcoming as soon as you enter the practice. Haley the treatment co-ordinator is attentive and understanding of nervous patients like myself as are the dental nurses. . Claire, the dentist is kind and understanding and has changed the way I feel about any dental treatment. I attended an appointment for an extraction with no fear or nerves and knew I’d receive the best of care. I’m now starting my maintance care plan and have no hesitation in recommending St Andrews Dental care.

I telephoned for an Emergency Apppointment as my own NHS dentist had no space today. I then contacted St Andrews Dental care and I was given an appointment an hour later. The dentist, Claire, was very reassuring and I was very satisfied with the treatment I received. The cost was reasonable considering I am not registered with this practice. Highly recommend to anyone else in a similar situation.

Our dentist Claire is brilliant. We always feel at ease and in really good hands with her. She has a lovely calm manner and explains every step as she goes. She recently did some composite bonding on my front teeth and it looks absolutely amazing. She’s also wonderful with my little daughter, who can sometimes feel a bit anxious, but Claire always reassures her by calmly talking her through everything.

I have just finished my treatment with Dr Claire Seifert and am delighted with the results. I have had my top teeth straightened using 32co aligners, plus a couple of little finishing touches including some whitening. Claire and the team are so professional and I would highly recommend.

I can’t recommend this dental practice highly enough. We had extensive work done here over the course of around 7 months, including two implants with bone graft and 20 porcelain veneers on the top and bottom. The entire experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The whole team have been incredibly supportive and accommodating throughout. My main specialist, Chris, is outstanding - not only in terms of skill, but also in the way he approaches his work. He brings a fun, caring atmosphere into what could otherwise be very stressful procedures, which made a massive difference for me. It’s very clear that this is more than just a job to him. He took the time to answer my million questions with calm confidence, never rushing or dismissing any concerns.Being able to message him directly with any questions gave me so much peace of mind, especially as I’m very nervous when it comes to dental treatment. Any time I had a concern, they were able to see me the same day, which I really appreciated.A special thank you to Elle, the dental assistant, who was so kind and attentive during procedures. She could see I was anxious and constantly checked in on me - her calm and gentle manner made a huge difference. Jenna was also amazing during my implant placement. The reception team were just as lovely and accommodating. Little touches like headphones, a stress ball, and a blanket helped me feel far more comfortable and relaxed during treatment.I won’t be going anywhere else for any future dental work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone looking for exceptional care.

After losing a tooth filling whilst on holiday, I contacted a few dental practices for an appointment to rectify the painful issue without success. Fortunately, I then found St Andrews Dental Practice and was offered an appointment the following morning. From entering the premises to the treatment of the painful problem was dealt with both friendly and efficiently. (Oh, also pain free.)Thank you.

From first contacting St Andrews Dental to the procedures themselves have been a great experience, with myself being anxious and not having had treatment in years I can only recommend and say you are in good hands, absolute care for your well being is a priority and the communication from the staff to keep your anxiety at ease is fantastic. The dental work completed on myself from Claire is wonderful and I never thought I would have a full smile again, can only rate highly to anyone considering treatment

I have been in treatment for over a year after one of my teeth broke. The team at St Andrews dental care was great all along! I got an appointment very quick and Claire took care of all the dentistry care I needed before going for an implant. Stuart then took over to remove and replace the tooth. It took a lot of work but it was all done painfree, professionally, and really well. The receptionists and nurses were also all super helpful and nice. I would highly recommend the clinic!

Had my wisdom tooth removed today, it all went smoothly with no pain. Claire took good care of me by asking if I was ok on numerous occasions, making sure I was handling the whole procedure well. Also Claire’s assistant made me feel at ease. The lady’s in the reception were very polite.I had no pain throughout my whole experience at Pain Free Dentistry, the staff were extremely courteous, when I look in the mirror and smile now, I see my young self looking back. Do yourself a favour if you’re looking for top quality professional to look after you and your smile, give them a call.

I recently had an appointment at St Andrews Dental Care, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, took the time to explain every step of my procedure and answered all my questions with patience. It’s clear that everyone genuinely cares about their patients. The dental hygienist Mansoor was also fantastic, very professional, making sure I was comfortable during the cleaning and providing expert tips for maintaining my oral health.I appreciated the state-of-the-art technology used in the clinic, which made the process efficient and thorough. I felt well-informed throughout my visit and truly valued the personalized care.Overall, I highly recommend St Andrews Dental Care for anyone looking for attentive and skilled dental care. I actually look forward to my next visit — Thank you, St Andrews Dental care and the entire team!

My experience at St Andrews Dental Care was beyond anything I could have hoped for. I have been struggling with TMJ jaw pain for 8 months and after my jaw got stuck yesterday, I decided to head to the clinic after Haley was able to book me in for an emergency appointment (absolute angel!). I got to see Dr. Stuart Farmer who immediately put me at ease and confirmed he could help me. After 8 long months of excruciating pain and no diagnosis from the local GP or NHS Dentist, Dr. Farmer was able to give me one in minutes, and take away the pain instantly. I can see now why they are called the "Pain Free" Dental Clinic. I was sent away with the proper meds and splint needed to correct my problem and have not been in any pain since. I couldn't recommend this clinic more. They will look after you 100% and do it with a level of compassion and professionalism I've had yet to see anywhere else in my 6 years of living in the U.K. Thanks Team :)

I've been with St Andrews Dental Care for ~4 years now. I've recently finished my Invisadent Treatment and I'm incredibly happy with its outcome. I'm really grateful for how attentive Claire, and all of the team have been throughout this process and I know they will continue to be. Ellie, Mansoor and Rebecca just to name a few of the staff have always been so welcoming and easy to chat with, with all of the staff being happy to answer any questions you have. I've never had a bad experience here and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending using the St Andrews Dental Care team for anyone looking for a new practice.

I went to St Andrews Dental Care after being with the NHS for many years but starting to feel increasingly let down and concerned about the care I was receiving. This culminated in a tooth getting broken and having to wear a partial denture which I hated. I consulted Stuart who spent a lot of time looking at the issues I had, and after getting some very good remedial general dental work, I started the process for an implant. The process was quite long as I needed to have my bone built back up, but at all times the care and attention was excellent.I am left with a new front tooth which perfectly matches my natural teeth.I have no hesitation in recommending Stuart and this practice. Indeed I have now signed up for regular care here.

St Andrews Dental Care has been an overall excellent and trusted clinic for my dental needs. I have had a missing tooth for years, with little progress or clear path forward, and I am so happy to say that I have just had a successful dental implant surgery. This means so much to me as I’ve been given conflicting advice for years about what is best for me. Until I came here and I have so much more clarity. The receptionists are so kind and helpful, there are payment plans to suit different budgets, and everything has been explained clearly every step of the way. A special shout out to Claire and Stuart for all of their help and support throughout the process of my implant.Would definitely recommend this dental clinic if you are looking for high quality dental implant or orthodontic care.

Super treatment today from Mansoor and Claire. Both really kind, knowledgable and professional. I can't describe how grateful I am for this practice. Everyone is wonderful, and they helped me--a person they didn't know, on holiday from the States, who suffered an emergency from a previous oral surgery.I'd emailed the affiliate office in Dundee, closer to where I was, but they didn't handle the level of care I needed but asked permission to forward my inquiry to St. Andrews. Within the hour, Christina from St. Andrews reached out to me.This is when I had an inkling of how incredible this office is.Christina said Stuart, the oral surgeon with the proper expertise in the area I needed, would be happy to see me, and could I provide some information from my U.S. surgeon (whom I had been trying to reach, to no avail). I sent her the information, and said I'd not yet received a reply. She could not find an email on the website, so she called--the U.S.I was miserable, barely able to eat, and the problems I was having were NOT typical for my past surgery, so I was terrified if I didn't get help, the implications would be worse, as every day I could discern my issues growing progressively worse. But Christina was able to squeeze me into Stuart's schedule as soon right after he returned from leave.Stuart's credentials were impeccable, and it showed in when it mattered most: It turned out Stuart did not have exactly the right instruments that would have made what he needed to do to "patch me up" until I could have the problem fixed permanently in the U.S. And this is THE most important part of this review and why I tell this longer story:Stuart, had to think on his feet and figure out what tools would work to get the job done correctly. You see, medicine is a science, but I have always heard good doctors/dentists say that it is also an art. Because Stuart is an expert at what he does, with years of experience, training--and training others, because he travels and keeps current with research and best practices, he was able to think fast about what could work. There was one moment when he thought he might have to send me to the lab in Dundee for just one last thing. But then he said maybe he had something in a bag at the end of the counter... and he tried it; his next words were, "it's a miracle."I replied, "you're a genius."He spent almost two hours fixing me up. When I tell you I had been in tears for 2-3 weeks, even wondering if it was fixable, I'm not exaggerating.I felt like hugging both him and Elle (his assistant for my appt--also wonderful, kind. Elle has amazing eyesight and can find the smallest things that drop on the floor! She spotted and sanitized what I couldn't even see!) Elle is a perfect assistant and made me feel cared for as well.I actually never asked the cost; probably no one could tell me since they wouldn't have known what needed done. But the cost was absolutely fair and reasonable. There was no padded charge they tried to make up and take advantage of the way some places might. I paid for a long and involved visit in a highly qualified office, where he saved my mouth, allowed me to eat, and gave me hope to enjoy the rest of my summer. I can't tell you how much that meant to me.Rebecca, yet another radiant and friendly person that gives a lovely image to this practice, checked me out. Christina had left for the day. When I emailed Christina to thank her for doing so much to help me, she admitted she checked with Rebecca later to see that I was taken care of, and that basically explains the heart of this office. While they're not NHS, if you can manage a private care office, choose this one. Most of all, you need medical professionals who think deeply and strategically when situations are not clear cut. I cannot recommend St. Andrews Dental Care highly enough.PS: I am leaving this review over a week after my appt, simply to note that Stuart's work really did do the job and I have been able to eat, and have no complications; my appt. to have the entire process redone is next month in the States, but thanks to Stuart, it's no longer an emergency.

I would highly recommend this practice. I had a consultation with Hayley and she discussed my options over a coffee and then booked me in with the Dentist who specialised in what i wanted. Suffering from some discomfort, I called in, in person, on Monday at 1530 to see a dentist and was given an appointment for 0945 the next day. By 1030, I was walking out of the surgery minus 1 bad tooth which I expected. Fantastic service and superb treatment from all at the practice. Many thanks.
