Porcelain vs Composite Veneers in Fife | St Andrews Dental Care

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers: Which Smile Solution Is Right for You at St Andrews Dental Care?

Porcelain vs Composite Veneers – If you’re thinking about enhancing your smile, you’re not alone. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, one of the most common questions we hear is:

“Should I choose porcelain or composite veneers?”

Both options can transform your smile, but the right choice depends on your goals, lifestyle, and expectations. This guide will help you understand the differences so you can make an informed, confident decision.

What Are Veneers? A Simple Explanation

Veneers are thin, custom-made coverings placed over the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. They’re a popular cosmetic solution for addressing concerns such as:

  • Discolouration or staining

  • Chipped or worn teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Uneven or misshapen teeth

  • Mild alignment issues

At St Andrews Dental Care, every veneer is carefully designed to complement your natural features and create a balanced, authentic smile.

Porcelain Veneers: A Premium Smile Transformation

Porcelain veneers are widely regarded as the gold standard in cosmetic dentistry due to their durability and natural appearance.

Benefits of Porcelain Veneers

  • Highly natural, enamel-like finish

  • Excellent resistance to staining

  • Long-lasting results (often 10–15+ years)

  • Custom-crafted for a precise, seamless fit

Porcelain reflects light in a way that closely mimics natural tooth enamel, making it ideal for patients seeking a refined, long-term solution.

Best For:

  • Patients wanting a long-lasting cosmetic upgrade

  • Those seeking the most natural-looking results

  • Individuals looking for durability and minimal maintenance

Composite Veneers: A Flexible and Cost-Effective Option

Composite veneers are created using tooth-coloured resin and can often be completed in a single visit.

Benefits of Composite Veneers

  • More affordable than porcelain veneers

  • Minimal tooth preparation required

  • Faster treatment time

  • Easily repairable if chipped

While composite veneers don’t last as long as porcelain, they offer an excellent option for patients seeking noticeable improvement with less commitment.

Best For:

  • Minor cosmetic enhancements

  • Budget-conscious patients

  • Those wanting a less permanent solution

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long do veneers last?

The lifespan of veneers depends on the type chosen and how well they’re cared for.

  • Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years or more with good oral hygiene.

  • Composite veneers usually last 5–7 years before needing repair or replacement.
Regular dental check-ups and good daily care can significantly extend their lifespan.

2. Do veneers damage your natural teeth?

When placed correctly by an experienced dentist, veneers do not damage your teeth. Only a small amount of enamel is removed to ensure a secure and natural-looking fit. Composite veneers may require little to no enamel removal at all.

3. Are veneers painful?

The veneer process is generally very comfortable. Most patients experience little to no discomfort, and any sensitivity is usually mild and temporary. Local anaesthetic can be used if needed to ensure you remain comfortable throughout treatment.

4. Can veneers look natural?

Absolutely. Modern veneers are designed to closely mimic the colour, translucency, and texture of natural teeth. When expertly planned and placed, veneers can be virtually indistinguishable from natural enamel.

5. How do I care for my veneers?

Caring for veneers is similar to caring for natural teeth:

  • Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste

  • Floss daily

  • Attend regular dental check-ups

  • Avoid biting hard objects (such as ice or pens)

With good care, veneers can remain beautiful for many years.

Invisalign Timeline Fife – Your Complete Guide

From Consultation to Final Smile: Your Complete Invisalign Timeline

If you’ve been dreaming of a straighter smile without the brackets and wires of traditional braces, Invisalign may feel like a breath of fresh air. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we guide patients through this modern teeth-straightening process every day, making sure each step feels simple, supportive, and genuinely exciting.

In this complete Invisalign timeline, we walk you through exactly what to expect, from your first consultation to the moment you reveal your final, confident smile. Ready? Let’s begin.

What Makes Invisalign a Popular Choice?

Invisalign has transformed the world of orthodontics. Instead of metal hardware, it uses nearly invisible, custom-made plastic aligners that gently guide your teeth into their ideal position.

Unlike braces, you can remove your aligners to eat and clean your teeth, giving you freedom and flexibility. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we see patients choosing Invisalign for its comfort, convenience, and discreet appearance. It’s orthodontics without the lifestyle disruption.

Step-by-Step: Your Invisalign Timeline Explained

Step 1 – Your Initial Consultation

This is where your Invisalign journey truly begins. During your first appointment at St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we evaluate your teeth, ask about your smile goals, and determine whether Invisalign is the best treatment for you.

 What Happens During the Consultation?

  • We examine your bite and overall oral health

  • We discuss potential outcomes and expectations

  • You’ll have time to ask all the questions you want

  • We walk you through the process, costs, and timeline

Think of this visit as the blueprint stage, you’re designing the smile you’ve always wanted.

Step 2 – Digital Scans and Smile Simulation

No messy impressions here. Using advanced digital scanning technology, we create a precise 3D image of your teeth.

Why Digital Scans Matter

  • They provide highly accurate imaging

  • They help design your custom aligner trays

  • They allow us to show a before-and-after simulation

  • They ensure a comfortable, tailored treatment plan

At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, most patients love seeing what their future smile will look like. It’s motivation from day one!

Step 3 – Custom Aligner Production

Once your digital scan is complete, Invisalign builds your series of aligners. Each tray applies gentle pressure to move your teeth slightly—step by step—until everything is beautifully aligned.

This stage typically takes a couple of weeks. During this time, your only job is to get excited.

Step 4 – Fitting Your First Set of Aligners

When your aligners arrive, you’ll return to the practice to try on your first set. We make sure they fit correctly and feel comfortable.

What to Expect During the Fitting

  • We teach you how to insert and remove aligners

  • We explain your wear schedule (usually 20–22 hours a day)

  • We discuss cleaning and care tips

  • You’ll receive multiple sets to progress through at home

You may feel slight pressure during the first few days, this is normal and means it’s working.

Step 5 – Wearing Your Aligners Full-Time

This is the longest part of your Invisalign timeline. You’ll switch to new aligners roughly every 1–2 weeks, depending on your treatment plan.

Tips for Success

  • Wear them for at least 20 hours daily

  • Remove them only for eating, drinking (anything but water), and brushing

  • Clean them gently, no hot water

  • Keep them in a protective case when not in use

We monitor your progress at St Andrews Dental Care in Fife through regular check-ins, usually every 6–8 weeks.

Step 6 – Refinements (If Needed)

Sometimes teeth need a little extra time to reach their perfect position. Refinements are additional aligners used to fine-tune your smile.

Think of this as polishing the final details, it’s all part of achieving perfection.

Step 7 – Completing Treatment and Showing Off Your Smile

Once your teeth have reached their ideal alignment, it’s time to celebrate! We’ll remove any attachments and take final photos so you can see your transformation.

But your journey doesn’t end here.

Step 8 – Retainers to Maintain Your Results

To keep your smile beautifully aligned, retainers are essential. Your teeth naturally try to shift back, and retainers ensure long-term stability.

Retainer Essentials

  • Wear them nightly at first

  • Gradually decrease as advised

  • Clean regularly

  • Replace when worn

At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we provide custom retainers designed for comfort and durability.

How Long Does the Invisalign Process Take?

Most Invisalign treatments last 6 to 18 months, depending on your case. More complex alignment issues may take longer, while simple cosmetic tweaks can be completed faster.

Every patient is unique, which is why we provide a personalized estimate during your consultation.

Dental Implants St Andrews Fife | Smile Restoration Experts

Dental Implants at St Andrews Dental Care in Fife: Your Complete Guide to Restoring Confidence and Smile

When it comes to achieving a beautiful, lasting smile, dental implants have become the gold standard. At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional dental implant treatments that not only restore your smile but also rebuild your confidence. In this detailed guide, we’ll take you through everything you need to know about dental implants, from how they work to why our Fife clinic is your best choice.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium, surgically placed into your jawbone to support replacement teeth or bridges. Think of them as sturdy foundations for your new smile. Once healed, they look, feel, and function just like natural teeth.

Why Choose Dental Implants Over Dentures or Bridges?

Unlike dentures, which can slip or feel uncomfortable, dental implants are fixed permanently. Here’s why many patients prefer implants:

  • Natural look and feel – indistinguishable from your real teeth

  • Long-lasting durability – implants can last a lifetime with proper care

  • Improved speech and chewing – no more worrying about slippage

  • Preserves jawbone health – prevents bone loss over time

  • Boosts confidence – enjoy smiling, eating, and speaking freely again

The Dental Implant Procedure Explained

At St Andrews Dental Care in Fife, our dental implant process is simple and comfortable. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: Consultation and Planning

Your journey starts with a comprehensive assessment. We take 3D scans and X-rays to evaluate your bone density and plan your implant placement precisely.

Step 2: Implant Placement

The titanium implant is gently inserted into your jawbone under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe this as less uncomfortable than having a tooth extracted.

Step 3: Healing and Osseointegration

Over the next few months, your bone fuses with the implant, a process called osseointegration. This ensures a secure foundation for your new tooth.

Step 4: Crown Attachment

Once healed, a custom-made crown is placed on top of your implant. It matches your natural teeth in both colour and shape.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Wondering if you’re eligible? You may be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have missing one or more teeth

  • Have healthy gums and adequate jawbone density

  • Don’t smoke or are willing to quit

  • Are in good overall health

If you’re unsure, our expert dentists at St Andrews Dental Care can perform a thorough assessment and guide you toward the best solution.

The Benefits of Choosing St Andrews Dental Care in Fife

When it comes to your smile, you deserve excellence. Here’s why patients across Fife trust us:

  • Highly skilled implant dentists with years of advanced training

  • State-of-the-art technology for precise planning and placement

  • Relaxed, welcoming environment to ease dental anxiety

  • Flexible payment plans tailored to your budget

  • Personalised care focused entirely on your comfort and results

Types of Dental Implants We Offer

Every smile is unique, and so are our implant options.

1. Single Tooth Implants

Ideal for replacing one missing tooth with a seamless, natural-looking crown.

2. Multiple Tooth Implants

Replace several missing teeth with a bridge supported by implants.

3. All-on-4 Dental Implants

A revolutionary option using just four implants to support an entire arch of teeth. Perfect for full-mouth restorations.

4. Mini Dental Implants

A minimally invasive option for patients with less bone density.

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

With proper care, dental implants can last 25 years or more, often a lifetime. Regular dental check-ups, good oral hygiene, and avoiding smoking are key to longevity.

Caring for Your Dental Implants

Dental implants are easy to care for, just treat them like your natural teeth:

  • Brush twice a day

  • Floss daily

  • Visit your dentist every six months

  • Avoid biting on hard objects (like pens or ice)

What Makes Dental Implants Worth the Investment?

While implants may have a higher upfront cost than other treatments, their long-term value is unmatched. Unlike dentures or bridges that may need frequent replacements, implants are designed to last decades, making them the most cost-effective solution over time.

Does Getting Dental Implants Hurt?

Not at all! Our team at St Andrews Dental Care ensures maximum comfort throughout the procedure. Most patients report only mild discomfort afterward, easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

What Is the Recovery Time for Dental Implants?

Healing times vary, but generally, it takes 3 to 6 months for your implant to fully integrate with your jawbone. During this period, temporary teeth may be fitted so you never go without a smile.

Financing and Payment Options

We believe everyone deserves a confident smile. That’s why St Andrews Dental Care offers affordable finance plans, including 0% interest options, allowing you to spread the cost over manageable monthly payments.

Invisalign at St Andrews Dental Care – Perfect Smile

Invisalign at St Andrews Dental Care – Your Journey to a Perfect Smile

When it comes to transforming your smile, few treatments match the comfort, convenience, and subtlety of Invisalign. At St Andrews Dental Care, we specialize in creating confident smiles using this innovative orthodontic solution. But Invisalign isn’t just about straight teeth, it’s about boosting your self-esteem, improving your oral health, and making the journey to a perfect smile as smooth as possible.

In this comprehensive guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about Invisalign at St Andrews Dental Care, from how it works, who it’s for, and the benefits you can expect, to real-world tips for success.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a cutting-edge orthodontic system that uses custom-made, clear aligners to gradually move teeth into their ideal position. Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, removable, and designed for maximum comfort.

Think of it as a modern upgrade to braces, like swapping a clunky desktop computer for a sleek laptop. You get the same end result (straight teeth) but with more style, comfort, and freedom.

Why Choose Invisalign Over Traditional Braces?

We get it, traditional braces work. But Invisalign offers a long list of advantages that make it the preferred choice for many of our patients at St Andrews Dental Care:

  • Discreet Appearance: Clear aligners are hardly noticeable.

  • Comfortable Fit: Smooth, BPA-free plastic means no metal wires poking your cheeks.

  • Removable: Eat what you love without restrictions.

  • Easier Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss normally.

  • Fewer Dental Visits: Less chair time compared to braces.

How Invisalign Works – Step by Step

1. Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a comprehensive assessment at St Andrews Dental Care. We’ll discuss your goals, assess your teeth, and determine if Invisalign is the right treatment for you.

2. Digital Scans and Planning

We use advanced 3D scanning technology to create a detailed digital model of your teeth. No messy impressions, just quick, comfortable scanning.

3. Custom Aligner Creation

Your aligners are made specifically for your teeth and your treatment plan, ensuring precise movement at every stage.

4. Wearing Your Aligners

You’ll wear each set of aligners for about 1–2 weeks, gradually shifting your teeth closer to the final desired position.

5. Regular Check-ins

We’ll see you every 6–8 weeks to track progress and provide your next set of aligners.

6. Enjoying Your New Smile

Once treatment is complete, we’ll provide retainers to keep your teeth perfectly aligned.

Who is Invisalign For?

Invisalign can treat a wide variety of cases, including:

  • Crowded teeth

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Overbite

  • Underbite

  • Crossbite

  • Mild to moderate misalignment

If you’ve been told braces are your only option, it’s still worth booking a consultation, Invisalign technology has advanced significantly and can treat more complex cases than ever.

Benefits of Invisalign at St Andrews Dental Care

We’re not just offering Invisalign, we’re offering personalised care with a focus on your comfort, confidence, and long-term results.

  • Expertise: Our dental team is highly trained in advanced Invisalign techniques.

  • Personalised Treatment Plans: Tailored to your unique smile.

  • State-of-the-Art Technology: Digital scanning and advanced treatment mapping.

  • Supportive Environment: We make your journey enjoyable and stress-free.

Life with Invisalign – What to Expect

Eating and Drinking

One of the best things about Invisalign is the freedom to eat your favourite foods—just pop your aligners out before meals.

Oral Care

Because aligners are removable, brushing and flossing remain easy and effective.

Speaking

You may notice a slight lisp in the first few days, but most patients adjust quickly.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

Treatment time depends on your specific case, but on average, most patients complete treatment within 6–18 months. With consistent wear (20–22 hours a day), you’ll see noticeable changes within weeks.

Tips for Invisalign Success

  1. Wear aligners as directed (20–22 hours daily).

  2. Keep them clean, rinse and brush gently.

  3. Always store them in their case when not in use.

  4. Follow your dental team’s advice closely.

  5. Stay patient, your dream smile is worth it.

Truth: Modern Invisalign can treat a wide range of orthodontic problems.

Having had a lifelong fear of the dentist and previous awful experiences in the past at other surgeries I was recommended to St Andrews dental care by a friend who had her treatment here. I can’t find fault with the surgery from the initial consultation to my first surgery yesterday - I was found to need my two front teeth removed( one was a metal bridge which was fitted over a year ago which was aesthetically awful and the other one had cracked at the root which hadn’t been detected at the original accident) the service I received was outstanding- relaying my fears, a painless procedure and the pre and post procedure care so far has been excellent. Stuart and his team constantly ensured I was comfortable and happy for the full 2 hours my of my initial treatment period making me mushy less anxious about upcoming appointments.

I signed up with St Andrews Dental Care over a year ago. I was a very anxious, nervous patient who previously would lose sleep the night before a dental appointment. From my very first conversation with Christina, the receptionist, I was put at ease. Christina and Rebecca are warm and welcoming as soon as you enter the practice. Haley the treatment co-ordinator is attentive and understanding of nervous patients like myself as are the dental nurses. . Claire, the dentist is kind and understanding and has changed the way I feel about any dental treatment. I attended an appointment for an extraction with no fear or nerves and knew I’d receive the best of care. I’m now starting my maintance care plan and have no hesitation in recommending St Andrews Dental care.

I telephoned for an Emergency Apppointment as my own NHS dentist had no space today. I then contacted St Andrews Dental care and I was given an appointment an hour later. The dentist, Claire, was very reassuring and I was very satisfied with the treatment I received. The cost was reasonable considering I am not registered with this practice. Highly recommend to anyone else in a similar situation.

Our dentist Claire is brilliant. We always feel at ease and in really good hands with her. She has a lovely calm manner and explains every step as she goes. She recently did some composite bonding on my front teeth and it looks absolutely amazing. She’s also wonderful with my little daughter, who can sometimes feel a bit anxious, but Claire always reassures her by calmly talking her through everything.

I have just finished my treatment with Dr Claire Seifert and am delighted with the results. I have had my top teeth straightened using 32co aligners, plus a couple of little finishing touches including some whitening. Claire and the team are so professional and I would highly recommend.

I can’t recommend this dental practice highly enough. We had extensive work done here over the course of around 7 months, including two implants with bone graft and 20 porcelain veneers on the top and bottom. The entire experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The whole team have been incredibly supportive and accommodating throughout. My main specialist, Chris, is outstanding - not only in terms of skill, but also in the way he approaches his work. He brings a fun, caring atmosphere into what could otherwise be very stressful procedures, which made a massive difference for me. It’s very clear that this is more than just a job to him. He took the time to answer my million questions with calm confidence, never rushing or dismissing any concerns.Being able to message him directly with any questions gave me so much peace of mind, especially as I’m very nervous when it comes to dental treatment. Any time I had a concern, they were able to see me the same day, which I really appreciated.A special thank you to Elle, the dental assistant, who was so kind and attentive during procedures. She could see I was anxious and constantly checked in on me - her calm and gentle manner made a huge difference. Jenna was also amazing during my implant placement. The reception team were just as lovely and accommodating. Little touches like headphones, a stress ball, and a blanket helped me feel far more comfortable and relaxed during treatment.I won’t be going anywhere else for any future dental work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this practice to anyone looking for exceptional care.

Fortunately, I then found St Andrews Dental Practice and was offered an appointment the following morning. From entering the premises to the treatment of the painful problem was dealt with both friendly and efficiently. (Oh, also pain free.)Thank you.

From first contacting St Andrews Dental to the procedures themselves have been a great experience, with myself being anxious and not having had treatment in years I can only recommend and say you are in good hands, absolute care for your well being is a priority and the communication from the staff to keep your anxiety at ease is fantastic. The dental work completed on myself from Claire is wonderful and I never thought I would have a full smile again, can only rate highly to anyone considering treatment

I have been in treatment for over a year after one of my teeth broke. The team at St Andrews dental care was great all along! I got an appointment very quick and Claire took care of all the dentistry care I needed before going for an implant. Stuart then took over to remove and replace the tooth. It took a lot of work but it was all done painfree, professionally, and really well. The receptionists and nurses were also all super helpful and nice. I would highly recommend the clinic!

Had my wisdom tooth removed today, it all went smoothly with no pain. Claire took good care of me by asking if I was ok on numerous occasions, making sure I was handling the whole procedure well. Also Claire’s assistant made me feel at ease. The lady’s in the reception were very polite.I had no pain throughout my whole experience at Pain Free Dentistry, the staff were extremely courteous, when I look in the mirror and smile now, I see my young self looking back. Do yourself a favour if you’re looking for top quality professional to look after you and your smile, give them a call.

I recently had an appointment at St Andrews Dental Care, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, took the time to explain every step of my procedure and answered all my questions with patience. It’s clear that everyone genuinely cares about their patients. The dental hygienist Mansoor was also fantastic, very professional, making sure I was comfortable during the cleaning and providing expert tips for maintaining my oral health.I appreciated the state-of-the-art technology used in the clinic, which made the process efficient and thorough. I felt well-informed throughout my visit and truly valued the personalized care.Overall, I highly recommend St Andrews Dental Care for anyone looking for attentive and skilled dental care. My experience at St Andrews Dental Care was beyond anything I could have hoped for. I have been struggling with TMJ jaw pain for 8 months and after my jaw got stuck yesterday, I decided to head to the clinic after Haley was able to book me in for an emergency appointment (absolute angel!). I got to see Dr. Stuart Farmer who immediately put me at ease and confirmed he could help me. After 8 long months of excruciating pain and no diagnosis from the local GP or NHS Dentist, Dr. Farmer was able to give me one in minutes, and take away the pain instantly. I can see now why they are called the "Pain Free" Dental Clinic. I was sent away with the proper meds and splint needed to correct my problem and have not been in any pain since. I couldn't recommend this clinic more. They will look after you 100% and do it with a level of compassion and professionalism I've had yet to see anywhere else in my 6 years of living in the U.K. Thanks Team :)

I've been with St Andrews Dental Care for ~4 years now. I've recently finished my Invisadent Treatment and I'm incredibly happy with its outcome. I'm really grateful for how attentive Claire, and all of the team have been throughout this process and I know they will continue to be. Ellie, Mansoor and Rebecca just to name a few of the staff have always been so welcoming and easy to chat with, with all of the staff being happy to answer any questions you have. I went to St Andrews Dental Care after being with the NHS for many years but starting to feel increasingly let down and concerned about the care I was receiving. This culminated in a tooth getting broken and having to wear a partial denture which I hated. I consulted Stuart who spent a lot of time looking at the issues I had, and after getting some very good remedial general dental work, I started the process for an implant. The process was quite long as I needed to have my bone built back up, but at all times the care and attention was excellent.I am left with a new front tooth which perfectly matches my natural teeth.I have no hesitation in recommending Stuart and this practice. Indeed I have now signed up for regular care here.

St Andrews Dental Care has been an overall excellent and trusted clinic for my dental needs. I have had a missing tooth for years, with little progress or clear path forward, and I am so happy to say that I have just had a successful dental implant surgery. This means so much to me as I’ve been given conflicting advice for years about what is best for me. Until I came here and I have so much more clarity. The receptionists are so kind and helpful, there are payment plans to suit different budgets, and everything has been explained clearly every step of the way. A special shout out to Claire and Stuart for all of their help and support throughout the process of my implant.Would definitely recommend this dental clinic if you are looking for high quality dental implant or orthodontic care.

Super treatment today from Mansoor and Claire. Both really kind, knowledgable and professional. I can't describe how grateful I am for this practice. Everyone is wonderful, and they helped me--a person they didn't know, on holiday from the States, who suffered an emergency from a previous oral surgery.I'd emailed the affiliate office in Dundee, closer to where I was, but they didn't handle the level of care I needed but asked permission to forward my inquiry to St. Andrews. Within the hour, Christina from St. Andrews reached out to me.This is when I had an inkling of how incredible this office is.Christina said Stuart, the oral surgeon with the proper expertise in the area I needed, would be happy to see me, and could I provide some information from my U.S. surgeon (whom I had been trying to reach, to no avail). I sent her the information, and said I'd not yet received a reply. She could not find an email on the website, so she called--the U.S.I was miserable, barely able to eat, and the problems I was having were NOT typical for my past surgery, so I was terrified if I didn't get help, the implications would be worse, as every day I could discern my issues growing progressively worse. But Christina was able to squeeze me into Stuart's schedule as soon right after he returned from leave.Stuart's credentials were impeccable, and it showed in when it mattered most: It turned out Stuart did not have exactly the right instruments that would have made what he needed to do to "patch me up" until I could have the problem fixed permanently in the U.S. And this is THE most important part of this review and why I tell this longer story:Stuart, had to think on his feet and figure out what tools would work to get the job done correctly. You see, medicine is a science, but I have always heard good doctors/dentists say that it is also an art. Because Stuart is an expert at what he does, with years of experience, training--and training others, because he travels and keeps current with research and best practices, he was able to think fast about what could work. There was one moment when he thought he might have to send me to the lab in Dundee for just one last thing. But then he said maybe he had something in a bag at the end of the counter... and he tried it; his next words were, "it's a miracle."I replied, "you're a genius."He spent almost two hours fixing me up. When I tell you I had been in tears for 2-3 weeks, even wondering if it was fixable, I'm not exaggerating.I felt like hugging both him and Elle (his assistant for my appt--also wonderful, kind. Elle has amazing eyesight and can find the smallest things that drop on the floor! She spotted and sanitized what I couldn't even see!) Elle is a perfect assistant and made me feel cared for as well.I actually never asked the cost; probably no one could tell me since they wouldn't have known what needed done. But the cost was absolutely fair and reasonable. There was no padded charge they tried to make up and take advantage of the way some places might. I paid for a long and involved visit in a highly qualified office, where he saved my mouth, allowed me to eat, and gave me hope to enjoy the rest of my summer. I can't tell you how much that meant to me.Rebecca, yet another radiant and friendly person that gives a lovely image to this practice, checked me out. Christina had left for the day. When I emailed Christina to thank her for doing so much to help me, she admitted she checked with Rebecca later to see that I was taken care of, and that basically explains the heart of this office. While they're not NHS, if you can manage a private care office, choose this one. Most of all, you need medical professionals who think deeply and strategically when situations are not clear cut. I cannot recommend St. Andrews Dental Care highly enough.PS: I am leaving this review over a week after my appt, simply to note that Stuart's work really did do the job and I have been able to eat, and have no complications; my appt. to have the entire process redone is next month in the States, but thanks to Stuart, it's no longer an emergency.
